What is Advanced Power Boost or APB?

Within a multiple loads connection, Advanced Power Boost (APB) can detect a faulty current path and provide a large outrush current to trip the circuit breaker connected to the faulty path. This prevents the system from shutting down while the other connected current paths continue to operate without interruption.

While standard Power Boost provides short-duration reserve power to handle transient loads, APB extends this concept by enabling selective fault isolation. As explained in What is Power Boost in a Power Supply and How Does It Work?, Power Boost helps maintain stable output during peak demand conditions.

In applications with multiple parallel loads—such as those described in What Kinds of Applications or Environments Need Power Boost?—APB adds an extra layer of protection by ensuring that a fault in one branch does not affect the entire system.
